I'm sorry but I would need more help with this.

I'm sending the following model in attachment.

What I would need to do is to extend this kind of calculation to include more years and more types of cars:
for five classes of cars, K1, K2, K3, K4, K5
for a range of years: 2010 to 2020
looking for leverage points:
reducing mileage
hybridization and electricification of cars

Can you give me any pointers on how to do this ?

I cannot, for instance, copy all the factors for one class (K1) and paste them below, and tweak the factors
I would like to simplify all this, because I will end up with a massive model otherwise.

Hello Serge

you posted an interesting model and a very useful question.

First I have attached your model with a little enhancement and an explanation, how to use the clipboard to clone elements of the model.

Secondly I have placed an alternative model because I think we shouldn't place factors to represent different time steps, e.g. years. This is done implicitly by the system dynamics approach. We place a factor, and the values over time are what the simulation is calculating or what we define as input-series or constant over time for this factor. For beginners and Excel-users it is rather strange not to define a field/factor for every value over time but just one factor that gets its values with the simulation.
There are many possible ways to model the CO2 exhaustion of a car fleet. The approach I have chosen looks for the numbers of different type of cars and their average CO2 exhaustion which adds to the overall average of the fleet. Of course you can also multiply the average kilometers driven by the different kind of cars to get a total of exhaustion that you may also differentiate to look for nitrogen oxides etc., like hph proposed in a parallel post in this forum.
To add further types of cars you can use the clipboard right the way I explained with the other model.
Don't hesitate to ask further questions as this is already a tricky model.
